Easter Sunrise Service

Sunday, April 8, 2012

Join us at the Fallbrook Air Park for the annual St. Stephen Easter sunrise service. The service begins at 6:30 AM.

The Day
Easter is the highest festival in the Christian year. On this day we celebrate the foundation of our faith: the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Service
The tradition of the sunrise service stems from the ancient practice of the Easter Vigil. Christians held overnight vigils on all the major Christian festivals each year, and Easter was no different. Christians gathered together in the darkness of night on Saturday and worshiped, prayed, and read the Scriptures until morning came. At dawn the worshipers rejoiced at the news that Christ was indeed raised from the dead.

We worship each Sunday at 9:30 AM.
Worship is the beating heart of the Christian faith and an important part of life at St. Stephen. We invite you to take part in the rich and vibrant tradition of Lutheran worship. 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” There is no better news in all the world than this simple sentence.
