SOWERS: A New Youth Initiative

September 20, 2010

St. Stephen Lutheran is pleased to announce a new youth initiative: SOWERS. The program is a joint undertaking between St. Stephen Lutheran of Fallbrook, Christ the Vine of Temecula, and Living Hope of Wildomar. The acronym SOWERS stands for “Showing Others Who’s the Eternal Risen Savior.”

The idea behind SOWERS was to allow more and more Christian teens to meet for fellowship and growth in faith. By joining forces with other congregations, we can broaden the impact of the group and help our teens get to know more and more people their age. We expect this group will provide teens with an opportunity to experience the bond of Christian faith with a much larger group than we could provide alone. The outcome will be a stronger youth group, more unity between our congregations, and of course, more fun.

Besides the many benefits for our youth, the joint group allows our congregations to reduce the workload on their youth leaders. By rotating the duties for event planning, youth leaders from each congregation will have more time to devote to their particular duties.

Long-term plans include major gatherings and events planned in conjunction with some of our sister congregations in the southern part of San Diego County. Our goal is that our area youth group would inspire other congregations to form similar programs.

The kick-off party for SOWERS is scheduled for Sunday, October 24th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. The party will take place at the CLHS Hawk’s Nest located in the gym at CLHS in Wildomar. Grades 9-12 are invited for food, games, and a “bring a friend” prize. If you bring a printout of this article or the official party flyer (available at church) and a friend, you’ll receive a prize.

The kickoff party is being coordinated by Mrs. Rachel Simiele of Christ the Vine. Please use our website contact form to submit any messages and we’ll forward them to Mrs. Simiele.

Please encourage your teens to attend this kickoff party!

We worship each Sunday at 9:30 AM.
Worship is the beating heart of the Christian faith and an important part of life at St. Stephen. We invite you to take part in the rich and vibrant tradition of Lutheran worship. 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” There is no better news in all the world than this simple sentence.
